I feel like I'm being confronted about my life as a writer lately.

To cut a long story short, I overheard a conversation about my writings between two people.

Person A was advised against getting me to ghost write something because it seems like I "come out a bit too strong" in my articles.

I feel like a left wing radical extremist now.

The comment would not have been a personal attack if being a writer isn't who I am.

And I feel the need to sit down and rethink the way I write, or even if I should continue writing.

Hopefully this doesn't sound trite to say, but you are a good writer who produces quality material and I think there are a lot of people out there who truly appreciate what you do (not just me! :).

I hope you don't put down the pen because of one person's prejudices or perceptions, because no matter what you write - be it from a left-leaning or right-leaning perspective - there will be people who do like it or who don't.

Keep on keeping on. Your material is appreciated!

I know that there are some people who think that I'm the best radio broadcaster in the world. (No, not just my family.)

I'm also convinced that there are some people who think I'm so bad at what I do that they switch off their radios as soon as they hear me.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I'm good at my job but there are plenty of people who can do a better job.

When you work in a creative sphere there'll always be people who love what you do and others who'll hate what you do. If you're pleasing everyone you're really not trying hard enough.

None of us enjoy criticism and we all want people to love what we do but we really can't make everyone happy.

If someone is saying that you 'come out a bit too strong' it probably means that you've expressed an opinion that they don't share. I'd take it as a compliment. You've obviously engaged them and got them thinking. Even if they don't arrive at the same conclusions that you have, they're thinking. That's a powerful thing for a writer to achieve. Well done.

If it is one thing I know well enough, you can't please everyone.

There is nothing worse than a writer whose article doesn't create any impact. Yawn.

Write on, Mel. Our gang in JC is known for being heard, even if others don't agree with us. ;)

being an accountant i've got lots of professional opinions on numbers but not much one words. my $0.03 worth however...

opinion pieces: come on strong

news pieces: stick to the facts

church news pieces: stick to the facts, but only if they are nice. otherwise, make it up to sound nice anyway.

I agree with the preivous. Don't stop writing, you're really good.
I'd love to be able to express myself like you do.
